Man of Marble!
That’s my name!
Over ten years, we follow a young couple, who became parents too early, and watch them navigate these new circumstances with ups and downs, moments of excitement and moments of falls
A few years ago a young director Szymon Kuriata went to visit his hometown, where he met Remik – his best friend from school times. Remik had just become a first-time father and girlfriend Magda, mother of their son Franek, was barely 18 y.o. at the time. Magda and Remik tried to create a family and raise the child together but soon Remik started to leave the house more and more often to meet with his friends and have a beer with them. He clearly wanted his previous, reckless life back.
As a result, Magda decided to end their relationship. But every time Remik quit drinking and came back to her apologizing, she agreed to give it one more try in the hope to build their little family again.
They were in an endless circle, repeating the same mistakes for the next years.
Best intentions are not always enough.
In this movie we fallow a family in which
At its heart, the film follows a young family in which each of the protagonists fights for love for themselves, grows up, and learns responsibility. Across ten years of filming, we also witness the process of a child growing up — from pregnancy, through his first attempts to speak, all the way to the moment when he leaves home and moves abroad.
Production
After a years of shooting we spent a year in editing development. During DocLab in Poland, ExOriente and Dok.Incubator we discovered what the story is about. In this movie we ask most essential question, is love enought to make a family?
